Fantastic care at Chelsea and Westminster hospital. All the nurses in the paediatric department were kind and professional. Surgeons amazing. The only suggestion is an admin one: it is difficult to make a 7 year old wait 5 hours on an empty stomach. If possible it would very helpful to have appointments every 2 -3 hours instead of having everybody scheduled at 7:00?

I was admitted to the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital for a PCNL on my right kidney. The surgery required general anaesthetic and I was placed in the David Evans ward for recovery for 3 days after my surgery. During this time I required a blood transfusion as I had lost quite a lot of bloody during the surgery. I have received immaculate care from all the hospital staff from the minute I got admitted to when I got released. They all did their best to make my stay as comfortable as possible. Throughout the entire time, I was aware of my situation, I felt involved in the decisions which were made about me and this really made me feel safe and confident that I was looked after properly. The standard of care received from everyone at this hospital has exceeded my expectations and I am grateful to all staff for this.

Surgeon and anaesthetist great. Rest awful! On arrival I was left to find stuff in the room and work out how to use things myself. Staff thought it was okay to use over friendly terms of endearment. Out if order! Good job I brought in my own drugs. Despite being told this they brought them round but at wrong time. They are to be taken with good but brought round 2 plus hours later! Nurses made assumptions without asking me on things not on my records. Not there because the issue didn't exist but they insisted I must be wrong! On check out, the nurse had to get help doing release paperwork, took over an hour to find a sling, and didn't even know how to apply it. I mean, please, a nurse who can't put on a sling? After ten minutes of trying she said I'm trying to work it out! I told her to get someone who knew what they were doing! She was rightly shown up for her incompetence when a physio had to do it. To employ staff nurses who can't do basics, and make serious assumptions about you, telling you that you clearly are in error when it is them, I suggest you keep a wide birth if you need to stay here. The only saving grace was the surgeon and his side kick. The only great bit about my stay

Surgeon and anaesthetist were great. That was it. The staff seem to think it is okay to address you with terms of endearment. Totally out of order. On check in I was shown my bed and left yo find things and work out how to use things. Check out was worse. Took over an hour to find a sling. Had to wait for nurse doing check out papers on computer to fit it as she said no one else could. She struggled to do basic check out firms. To top it, she couldn't even fit a doing. After ten minutes she said she was trying to work it out! How can you be come a staff nurse and not be able to fit a sling. I told her to get someone who knows what they are doing. In the end a physio had to show her what to do. Doesn't fill you with confidence! Nurses got my medication wrong! Brought in my own. Told them. They offered me these drugs later in the day. As they are to be taken with food it was a good job I brought my own as they were always 2 hours out! All in all, the only saving grace was the main man and his sidekick.

Great hospital! With three kids I have been at A&E more than once as well as having elderly relatives. Always treated with dignity, smiles and care. Can't fault the place and wouldn't go anywhere else.
